The high quality of the presentations that we have at the iMoot is what keeps both presenters and attendees coming back year after year. If you are new to presenting at an iMoot - don't worry, you'll get help and guidance from the team to make sure everything runs smoothly.

To submit a presentation proposal please select the 'Add Entry' tab below. We'll do the rest, and get back to you to confirm whether it has been accepted.

Sessions for the iMoot are to be a maximum of 45 minutes long including question time.

If you can not see the 'Add Entry' tab, either you haven't set up an account on the site, or the call for presentations has closed.

A Trail of Building the Community to Support Moodle

Content Type: Focussed discussion - Ask a Moodler!

Language: English

Description of Presentation

I have devoted myself to building up the community that helps Moodle grow in its popularity and finance since 2004. I'd like to share my experience of leading the endeavor to put people's good will and efforts together to support the Moodle project.

The first thing I did was to start worldwide Donation Campaigns. My friend and I began this fundraising campaign to raise funds for Moodle, and we sent a thank-you letter, a button, and a magnet to all donors of  $50 or more from around the world.

The second project I tackled was to create an organization to systematically support Moodle financially. The effort bore fruit in the formation of Moodle Association of Japan, the one and only national association to support Moodle HQ.

The third thing I did was to initiate Moodle HQ into creating Moodle Users Association and become one of the promoters. MUA is gradually taking root among the world Moodlers, and that's a good thing.

I will talk about how I blazed this trail of forming supporters of Moodle, and hope to have some discussion with the audience on how each one of us can get on the bandwagon.
